Buster is a really special dog who has had to leave his present home due to human personal circumstances. He is quite sad at moment because he has not only left his home but has been split up from his friend Honey the greyhound. (He is also quite cold so he has a nice coat on to keep him warm). Buster is a medium to large brindle dog and very handsome. He has shared his last home with Honey the greyhound and children and he is absolutely fine with both. He would be very happy in a home with visiting children or one with older children living in the family home. Buster is housetrained and an absolute dream to walk. He has been fine with other breeds when out walking. He is also quite happy to go travelling too.
If you think you can offer Buster a special home please phone 01636 822032 or e mail

Doggie treats raise funds for RGT East Midlands and Nottinghamshire Branch - a big thank you to the Duff family and Church Farmhouse Cakes
Malcolm, Julie and Si’s story and their inspiration to raise funds for the Branch
Having always had two or three dogs , when our much-loved border Collie Jess died it was decided to look for another dog.
‘Retired Greyhound’ stands, complete with greyhounds, seemed to appear whenever we visited a country show, usually with John & Judith from Sutton on Trent kennels. Increasingly drawn to the breed and having visited the kennels, we were carefully ‘examined’ by John and passed the test. visiting the kennels with Bee, we looked and pointed out two or three greyhounds we liked the look of and whoseemed to like us. John took each greyhound out for a walk with our Border Terrier and rejected each of our chosen dogs, when they simply did not get on with Bee, or he did not get on with them! Eventually, Winner was chosen for us both by John and the dogs themselves and they have remained the greatest of pals. Bee is the boss and the greyhound being so laid back, she even shares any bit of food she manages to nick (we’ve learnt not to leave her alone in the kitchen when there is food around.
The kitchen is of course, very important to us; we spend our days baking cakes, many of which have won gold medals (do have a look at our website, please http://www.churchfarmhousecakes.co.uk)
This year we have extended the range not only to Christmas Puddings but also to Cakes for Dogs and Cakes for Cats. The cakes are baked from ingredients, which you could eat; The cheesecakes from grated cheddar cheese, quark, oats rice flour and sesame seeds. The fishcakes include pilchards, the oils keeping coats intop condition. In addition we now make beef and herb cakes (using beef stock) and chicken cakes. The ingredients are all suitable for dogs, not including such things as chocolate, raisins and onions. Winner and Bee have been the official judges, who have never complained about any of the ideas, always looking for more.
Throughout the year the cakes have sold well, giving a 50p donation to the Greyhound Trust from each gift bag sold, they have also made people smile, it was only the regular comment “what about our cat”, that have extended the range to include Cakes for Cats.
In support of the Greyhound Trust East Midlands and Nottinghamshire Brancdh we would be happy to ofer a ‘Christmas Cakes for Dogs ‘ treat: 3 gift bags for £12.00 including postage and packing. This would enable £2.00 to be given to the Trust for each special offer sold.
Photographs are of the gift bag and Si pictured with Winner and Bee

The start of the walk is featured in a film on YouTube. Go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzrxG1L14dI to see for yourself.
YouTube also features a film of John being interviewed by Sky. Go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dnDzGMBdAo for an overview of the work of the RGT and Crossing Cottage kennels.

The Branch met at Moira Furnace on the 11th April for a lovely walk in the spring weather. The walk was organised by John and Elaine Topliss and a lovely time was had by all. The greyhounds were very well behaved and everyone enjoyed the lovely teas and coffees and really yummy cakes. For more photos see Gallery Section on the website
